If I'd taken a look at the press release, this CD would have gone straight into the trash: The idea of new wave songs covered in bossa nova style is about as obnoxious as they come, calculatedly trendy and made for sale at Starbucks. But I never read press releases, and by the time I realized that that's what I was listening to, I was enjoying it too much to be annoyed, because this is really, all concept aside, an impeccably made record, ideal for a low-key martini party. This version of the Clash's "Guns of Brixton" is less bossa nova than Weillian cabaret, but it's definitely worth a listen.
