While Stellastarr* continues to play above-average new wave rehash rock, the band lives or dies on the charisma of vocalist Shawn Christensen, which seems to be growing. On the single for their upcoming sophomore record, "Harmonies for the Haunted," he sings with such theatrical conviction and flair that even when the lyrics are borderline absurd ("I want to see your face/ In the reflection of my bedroom stereo") he carries them off.
