Here's one of the standout tracks from the new Clap Your Hands Say Yeah album, "Some Loud Thunder," which so far I'm liking more than the band's much-lauded debut. My favorite thing about these Brooklyn/Philly oddballs is the way Alec Ounsworth's earnest, often surreal lyrics ("We were destined to live underwater") are complemented so sympathetically by the music. Their sound is full of so many little unexpected sonic touches that it's easy to believe the band members are having as much fun making the music as we are listening to it.
