Interlocking guitar lines and lovelorn lyrics mark this song as the work of someone with a serious stake in the Strokes. Which is exactly what it is -- Albert Hammond Jr. plays guitar for those denizens of the New York demimonde. The corkscrew-haired Hammond Jr. might also owe a musical debt to his father, professional songwriter Albert Hammond, who's to blame for cheeseball '80s tracks like Starship's "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now," and who may have provided his son with an example of how not to use backing vocals and synthesizers. Junior shows a pretty good sense of taste with this track from his debut solo album.
