Jonathan Lethem's fictional music made real.

Jonathan Lethem's new novel, "You Don't Love Me Yet," centers on the relationship between the members of a fictional L.A. indie rock band. Some of Lethem's more musically inclined readers have decided to turn fiction into fact, recording versions of the songs described in the book. Brooklyn's the Night Time sent Audiofile their take on "Monster Eyes." Listen and find out if they've captured the essence of what Lethem describes in the book as being the band's "perfect song."

If this piques your interest, you might want to head on over to Lethem's Web site, where he's printed the lyrics to the songs as well as posted other bands' cracks at translating "You Don't Love Me Yet's" songs from the page to the stage -- check out One Ring Zero's take on "Rock Dead" or Dan Zane's "The Moth of the Bee of the Birds."
