This song, with its ironically discoish synth sounds, detached dance beat and whispered bits of French, at first seems like a piece of world-weary hipness with little heart in it. But as it goes on those synths gather into video game grandeur, those drums become not so much about detachment as about ennui and a sad kind of post-party futility, and the refrain of "Poster of a Girl" takes on a strange and unexpected poignancy.
