If there'd been an award for nastiest acceptance speech at the MTV Movie Awards on Saturday night (they air this Thursday), it would have been tough to choose between Eminem and Gollum, the computer-animated character from "The Lord of the Rings."
Gollum appeared on-screen to snatch the virtual-performance award from the actor who voiced him in the movies, snarling, "You're a liar and a thief. It's mine." Then he let loose and railed against everyone in sight, including the makers of "Lord of the Rings," the audience and MTV, the Associated Press reports.
Eminem, for his part, saved his vitriol for one special person: Mariah Carey.
Accepting the breakthrough male performance award for his work in "8 Mile," he snarked, "I can't believe I beat Mariah for 'Glitter.'"

All those angry right-wingers couldn't silence Natalie Maines, but a nasty sore throat apparently could. The Dixie Chicks were forced to cancel a sold-out concert in Cleveland over the weekend about 15 minutes before it was scheduled to start because Maines throat had "some damage to it." (The Associated Press)
Barbra Streisand's throat's apparently just fine, though, and she's screaming bloody murder over the Web posting of aerial photos of her Malibu estate. In fact, Babs is suing the photographer, one Ken Adelman, for $10 million onaccounta she claims he's invaded her privacy and compromised her security by displaying the precise layout of her home to prospective evildoers. (BBC)
And speaking of screaming bloody murder, Al Franken and Bill O'Reilly apparently got into a bit of a shouting match at a booksellers' luncheon in Los Angeles on Saturday. Franken, there to promote his forthcoming book "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them," accused the Fox News Channel talker of falsifying his credentials. O'Reilly tried to defend himself, but apparently got so worked up at one point he shouted at Franken, "Hey, shut up! You ... shut up!" (N.Y. Post)
Vincent Gallo won't shut up. And he'd like us to know that he is not sorry for foisting the apparently horrible flick "Brown Bunny" on Cannes audiences the other week. And he's not sorry about that graphic oral sex scene he included of himself with Chloe Sevigny. And he says he never expressed any regret over making the movie, as was reported in the British magazine Screen International and subsequently repeated by Roger Ebert (and this column, too). "I like the movie. I had 100 percent creative and financial control of it and if I didn't like it, I would have changed it," Gallo now says. "The only thing I'm sorry about is putting a curse on Roger Ebert's colon. If a fat pig like Roger Ebert doesn't like my movie, then I'm sorry for him." Does Gallo have any regrets? "I'm sorry I'm not gay or Jewish, so I don't have a special interest group of journalists that support me." And you thought Eminem's crack about Mariah was nasty. (N.Y. Post)
