Oh, fickle hearts! Having spent the last year drooling over the blue-eyed, raven-haired star of "Transformers" -- you know, the one who has recently graced the cover of, oh, every magazine known to man -- the dude-o-sphere is suddenly turning on its object of lust. They're doing the equivalent of deleting her number and blocking her calls, but just for one day -- Megan Fox Media Blackout Day.
The New York Daily News reports that the August 4 boycott is being promoted by "a dozen male-focused Web sites including AOL's men's lifestyle/humor site Asylum.com -- as well as Ask Men, Just a Guy Thing and Double Viking." AskMen's Editor-in-Chief James Bassil explains, "We're joining in the media blackout and giving our readers a one-day reprieve from the woman we've been drowning in all summer." More accurately, the woman who has made you drown in your own saliva.
It isn't that she has suddenly lost her looks, these sites are just craving "more diverse eye candy," the Daily News reports. Only, the sole suggestion offered for a replacement is actress Odette Yustman, a lookalike nicknamed "The Poor Man's Megan Fox." So, in reality, the Fox backlash has less to do with variety and everything to do with newness -- and that concludes today's lesson on the very short life cycle of the sex symbol.
