Ditch the brownies and you've got it made.

Baking with Mallomars is like using filet mignon as a garnish. You can do it, but it's kind of a waste.

Here's a recipe for "Mallomars brownies" offered by Nabisco on its Web site. I pass it along for information purposes only. I do not approve. An alternative recipe follows.

1 (20-ounce) package brownie mix
18 MALLOMARS Chocolate Cakes

1. Line 18 (2 1/2-inch) muffin-pan cups with foil baking cups; set aside.

2. Prepare brownie mix according to package directions. Spoon 2 tablespoons batter into prepared cups. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.

3. Top each brownie with a cookie, pressing lightly. Bake for 2 to 3 minutes more or until cookie begins to melt. Cool completely on wire rack. Store in airtight container.

Makes 18 brownies.
