Man acquitted of stalking QVC host

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- A Phoenix man who went to the home of a QVC shopping network host with wedding rings and two tickets to Las Vegas was sentenced to five years probation for trespassing.

Phillip M. Young, 52, also was convicted in August of harassment for showing up at Pat DeMentri's Washington Township home after he was warned by Phoenix police to keep away. He was acquitted of the more serious charge of stalking.

Young has served three years probation in Arizona for a 1999 conviction for stalking another QVC host, Lisa Robertson.

At a hearing Friday, DeMentri and her husband, Vince DeMentri, a television reporter in New York City, told Superior Court Judge Charles J. Delehey that Young had shattered their sense of security.

Vince DeMentri told The Times of Trenton that he was "mystified" that the jury did not convict Young of stalking. He also said he believed that Young would harass his family again.
