Palin watch

Day 8 and counting, and still no interviews.

Published September 8, 2008 3:04AM (EDT)

There's a star-studded lineup for the Sunday talk shows this weekend, according to the AP:

ABC's "This Week" — Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

CBS' "Face the Nation" — Republican presidential nominee John McCain.

NBC's "Meet the Press" — Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden.

But the hottest potential guest, Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, is nowhere to be seen.

Don't expect to see her next Sunday, either. Friday on Morning Joe, campaign manager Rick Davis said the campaign wouldn't promise she'd ever sit for a major interview. Marc Ambinder likewise quoted McCain sources shrugging off interview demands. "She may take some questions from local news entities in Alaska, but until she's ready -- and until she's comfortable -- which might not be for a long while -- the media will have to wait," Ambinder reports.

Remember when Hillary Clinton was accused of "pimping out" her daughter Chelsea, for letting Chelsea campaign but shielding her from the media? Will McCain's decision to cordon off Palin earn him the same kind of criticism? Not yet, anyway, but it's likely to build. You can keep track with this Sarah Palin Counter a reader created, as well as MoveOn's Palin Clock:

I'll be on CNN's "Reliable Sources" discussing Palin coverage Sunday morning, 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT.
