I was hoping we'd get at least, say, six months after the 2008 election before the 2010 campaign really started to kick off, especially since there was no pause between the vote in 2006 and the start of the presidential race. As usual, though, my dreams have been dashed. The GOP has just released its first ad of the new cycle, this one attacking Majority Leader Harry Reid.
The spot, which can be viewed below, tags the senator as "super-spending partisan Harry Reid" and goes after him on last year's bailout and this year's stimulus package. Among other things, the ad claims Reid "helped pay for vicious attack ads criticizing last year's bailouts" before voting for the package himself. That's partially true, but misleading; Reid donated, as all senators do, to his party's national Senate campaign fund, which then funded the ads.
