Conservative authors: "Help, we're being oppressed!"

Ann Coulter's first publisher is sued for exploiting right-wing propagandists. No, we're not making this up.

This may be the funniest question I've heard asked all year.

"Why is Regnery acting like a Marxist cartoon of a capitalist company?"

Regnery is the conservative book publisher famous for such lasting contributions to the canon as "Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry," and "Dereliction of Duty: The Eyewitness Account of How Bill Clinton Compromised America's National Security."

Regnery published both Ann Coulter's and William F. Buckley's first book. Need we say more?

But now the New York Times' Motoko Rich reports that five of Regnery's authors are suing the publisher because they believe that the company has fraudulently deprived them of a million dollars' worth of royalties. Which leads us to the above quote from Richard Miniter, author of "Shadow War: The Untold Story of How Bush Is Winning the War on Terror," who also bleated:

"It suddenly occurred to us that Regnery is making collectively jillions of dollars off of us and paying us a pittance."

Welcome to America, Mr. Miniter! Have a nice day!
