The Toyota Prius outraces the Ford Explorer

The king of the SUVs loses out to the little hatchback that could. Strangely, Mitt Romney neglected to mention this in Michigan

Robert Rapier passes on the news that in 2007, Americans bought more Toyota Priuses than Ford Explorers -- for years the best selling sport-utility vehicle in the United States.

Dani Rodrik, meanwhile, relays the following quote from Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney, currently stumping in Michigan.

Here in Michigan, the skies are cloudy all day, the trees are all the right height, people talk without an accent and most of the cars on the road are American made -- as they ought to be.

Romney, by the way, opposes increased fuel efficiency standards for cars sold in the United States.
