In the "National Geographic" special The Battle for Midway (8:05 p.m., TBS), underwater explorer Robert Ballard's expedition to the bottom of the Pacific to recover the USS Yorktown is interwoven with comments from veterans of the pivotal World War II battle. The six-part series Great Composers (check local times, PBS) begins with back-to-back profiles of Mozart and Beethoven. Kenneth Branagh narrates. Hipster magician David Blaine does his thing in New York, Memphis, Nashville, Haiti and the Venezuelan rainforest on the new special David Blaine: Magic Man (10 p.m., ABC). Filmmaker Steven Okazaki's documentary Black Tar Heroin: The Dark End of the Street (11 p.m., HBO) is a grim profile of young San Francisco junkies addicted to some very bad stuff.
