Specials
AFI's 100 Years ... 100 Stars (8 p.m., CBS) counts down the American Film Institute's secret ballot picks of the 50 greatest actors and actresses who made their screen debuts in or before 1950. But, you say, the title promises 100 stars! The other 50 are contemporary actors and actresses (including Kevin Costner, Cher, Billy Crystal and Goldie Hawn) who expound upon their screen idols. Two episodes of The People's Century (check local times, PBS) chronicle the world's entrance into the nuclear age and the rise of environmentalism. Samuel L. Jackson hosts From "Star Wars" to "Star Wars" (9 p.m., Fox), a nice fat plug for "The Phantom Menace" and George Lucas' special-effects house, Industrial Light and Magic. Had enough of this yet?
