Series
The new cable series Beggars and Choosers (10 p.m. Sat., Showtime), co-created by the late programming genius Brandon Tartikoff, is a "Larry Sanders"-ish comedy set at a low-ranked TV network. Brian Kerwin stars as the desperate network head. Saturday Night Live (11:30 p.m. Sat., NBC) has a best-of show devoted to Mike Myers. Sure, he's Austin Powers, but remember "Wayne's World"? Dieter from "Sprockets"? "Coffee Talk"? The man is a genius, I tell ya, a genius. And speaking of genius, Biography (8 p.m. EDT/9 PDT, Sun., A&E) has a two-hour profile of Beach Boy Brian Wilson. On a rerun of The Simpsons (8 p.m. Sun., Fox), Homer gets steamed when an idiotic TV character has the same name as him. Doh! Futurama (8:30 p.m. Sun., Fox) moves into its new time slot with a rerun of the very funny episode where Fry and Bender become roommates. On a rerun of The X-Files (9 p.m. Sun., Fox), the Devil (Bruce Campbell) just wants to have a family. Is that so terrible? Samantha has a kinky new boyfriend on Sex and the City (9 p.m. Sun., HBO). Disco queen Donna Summer feels the love on a new Behind the Music (9 p.m. Sun., VH1). A rerun of the concert Donna Summer: Live and More (10 p.m. Sun., VH1) follows. Bobby defends a baby-sitter (Kathy Baker) accused of shaking an infant to death on a rerun of The Practice (10 p.m. Sun., ABC).
