Series
The latest celebrity talk show, The Martin Short Show (syndicated, check local listings), premieres. This could be good if Short gets to show off his demented pixie comedic charms (remember Ed Grimley and Jackie Rogers Jr.?) between chat segments. Short's first guest is Billy Crystal. Everybody Loves Raymond (8 p.m., CBS) ends the summer rerun season with a four-episode blowout lasting until 10 p.m. Ally McBeal (9 p.m., Fox) reruns the one where Elaine's aunt claims Elaine stole her face bra idea. America Undercover (9:30 p.m., HBO) presents "Panic," a one-hour documentary on panic disorder that features testimony from average people and celebrities (like actress Kim Basinger and football great Earl Campbell) who live with it. National Enquirer TV (syndicated, check local listings) is a new nightly gossip wallow hosted by the tabloid's star columnist, Mike Walker. As the ads say, you know you want to watch.
