Fall premieres
The sitcom Shasta McNasty (9:30 p.m., UPN) makes its eagerly awaited (?) debut. A hip-hop trio gets into all sorts of wacky trouble in this TV14-rated version of "The Monkees." The opener features a guest appearance by Verne "Mini-Me" Troyer.

On Friends (8 p.m., NBC), Monica and Chandler decide to live together, and Ross seeks Phoebe's counsel on matters Rachel. The new teen comedy-drama Popular (8 p.m., WB) moves to its regular time slot with the conclusion of its two-part opener. On Family Guy (9 p.m., Fox), Peter invites his father to move in, but the old man's religious fervor is hard to take. Mystery! (check local times, PBS) opens its 20th season with "Second Sight," which introduces Detective Inspector Ross Tanner (Clive Owen), who's going blind, and his sensitive colleague, Cathleen Tully (Claire Skinner), who agrees to become his "eyes." The witches battle an old foe who attempts to render them powerless on the season opener of Charmed (9 p.m., WB). On Action (9:30 p.m., Fox), Peter's attempts to make "Beverly Hills Gun Club" are further complicated when his lead actor reveals he's gay. Sandra Bullock has a cameo. ER (10 p.m., NBC) begins a new season with a multiple-casualty freak accident and political maneuverings on the part of Romano. Also, two new doctors (Goran Visnjic and Michael Michele) join the staff and Carter gets a new love interest (guest Rebecca DeMornay).
