The candidates square off in First in the Nation: The New Hampshire Debates (7 p.m., CNN), which is made up of two debates, one for each party. The four-part series Culture Shock (9 p.m., PBS, check local listings) looks at classic works of art and literature that were controversial in their time and remain that way. The first episode, which is 90 minutes long, is devoted to Mark Twain's "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn"; the second hour-long episode (10:30 p.m.) deals with Edouard Manet's painting "Olympia." MTV kicks off its "Choose or Lose" election series with a Choose or Lose 2000 Concert (9:30 p.m., MTV) from New Hampshire College, hosted by John Norris. That's followed at (10 p.m.) by Where Were You at 22? which profiles the youthful paths taken by Al Gore, Bill Bradley, George W. Bush, John McCain and Steve Forbes.
