Sam Lipsyte (b. 1968) was born and raised in New Jersey. He has been a noise-rock frontman, a cold-caller, and an editor for online Feed magazine. He has been a well-respected member of the literary community for some time, his stories and essays appearing in numerous publications including Spin, Mother Jones, The Quarterly, Open City magazine, and Nerve.

In "Venus Drive" (Open City Books), Lipsyte's debut offering, he deftly weaves themes of drug abuse, lust, failed attempts at rock stardom, the misery of office life, and the decay of urban youth with a powerful emotional current that carries though each of the stories.

Listen now to an MP3Lit exclusive of Sam Lipsyte, recorded at the KGB Bar in New York City.
