Series
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (8 p.m., WB) reruns the one that flashes back through Spike's history as a vampire and slayer killer. Dateline NBC (10 p.m., NBC) reports on air travel horror stories. The squad is preoccupied with saving the hides of two cops in trouble on NYPD Blue (10 p.m., ABC). The Howard Stern-produced "Baywatch" spoof Son of the Beach (10 p.m., FX) returns for a second season with a visit to Hawaii. Tim Stack stars.
Specials
A new MTV tribute series kicks off with Icon: Janet Jackson (8 p.m., MTV) -- and by the way, that's Miss Jackson, if you're nasty. "Icon" will focus on a different star each time out. This one is a 90-minute career retrospective of the prettiest Jackson (sorry, Michael) with video clips, praise from famous admirers (Jennifer Lopez, weirdo brother), comments from Janet and a very special musical tribute from 'N Sync. The 1996 TV movie Norma Jean and Marilyn (9 p.m., Lifetime), originally made for premium cable, is a psychological bio of Marilyn Monroe, in which her two selves comment on each other's missteps. Ashley Judd plays Norma Jean; Mira Sorvino is Marilyn. And speaking of J.Lo, she gives a very fine performance as a federal marshal with the hots for suave bank robber George Clooney in Out of Sight (9 p.m., USA). Man of the hour Steven Soderbergh directs, terrifically.
