Jeff Goodell's first book, "The Cyberthief and the Samurai," told the story of computer hacker Kevin Mitnick. Goodell's latest work, "Sunnyvale: The Rise and Fall of a Silicon Valley Family," is a memoir of his family's meltdown during the digital revolution. According to a review in Salon Books, at times Goodell's book will "break your heart."
Goodell graduated from the University of California at Berkeley and received an MFA from Columbia University. He is a contributing editor at Rolling Stone and has written for numerous publications including the New York Times Magazine, GQ, the New Republic, Wired and 7 Days.
