Freeh, Reno, Ashcroft testify

The 9/11 commission has begun its 10th public hearing, focusing on the law enforcement and intelligence communities' responses to terrorism. The witness schedule is:

9:30 - 11:00 a.m. ET, Louis J. Freeh Former FBI Director
11:00 - 12:30 p.m. ET, Janet Reno Former U.S. Attorney General
2:00 - 3:30 p.m., Thomas Pickard Former Acting FBI Director, and J. Cofer Black Former Director, Counterterrorism Center of the CIA
3:30 - 4:45 p.m., John Ashcroft, U.S. Attorney General

In a statement, 9/11 Commission Chair Thomas H. Kean said: "This hearing will focus on four important questions: How was our government structured before 9/11 to address the terrorist threat inside the United States? What was the threat in 2001 and our governments response to it? How did the Intelligence Community address the threat? What reforms have been taken since 9/11 to respond to the terrorist threat inside the United States, and what have these reforms achieved?"
