AUSTIN, Texas -- An audit of the state's spending of nearly $600 million in federal anti-terrorism funds found that some of the money was spent improperly, including to buy a trailer that was used to haul lawn mowers to "lawn mower drag races."
We're not sure what's more shocking here: The revelation that a local government spent homeland security money (and tax dollars) on its lawn mower drag racing habit; or that lawn mowers can even move that fast. Either way, we concur with the folks at CAP -- pretty outrageous.
