Bright Eyes on Leno

Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst went on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" Monday night and performed his protest song "When the President Talks to God," dressed as a cowboy. Hooray to NBC for inviting him and allowing him to play that song, and hooray to Oberst for sticking to his guns in the national spotlight. But my oh my what a terrible song, a weak early-Dylan pastiche with none of the wit and none of the poetry.
