Oneida's ADD-ishly unfocused, genre-shredding rock experimentations are pretty hit or miss, and "Run Through My Hair," from "The Wedding" (their seventh full-length record), is definitely a hit. It starts with a lovely, circular phrase played on mandolin, or some mandolin-like instrument (think Led Zeppelin in pastoral sprite mode playing Finnish folk music), which is rudely interrupted by a violently stabbing electric guitar, before being joined by a much more subtly damaging out-of-tune piano. Brilliant production, and a beautiful song.
