Daily Download: "Farewell Ride (Subtle Remix)," Beck

This is a remix of "Farewell Ride," one of the standout tracks from Beck's recent "Guero," by hip-hop artists Subtle. First they fragment the track, placing Beck's vocal over new harmonies so that it sounds uneasy and a bit queasy, and heightening the tension with horror-movie piano stabs, and even when they bring everything back together, with a warm and fleshed-out sound, an undercurrent of creepiness remains.
