Daily Download: "Git," Skeletons & the Girl-Faced Boys

I was taken aback when I first heard this track by how much it sounded like the artfully, icily skewed dance-pop made by Arto Lindsay and Peter Scherer's band the Ambitious Lovers in the late '80s -- a band so commercially unsuccessful and critically forgotten that it seems odd that anyone would bother to copy them. Apparently some guys from Oberlin, led by Shinkoyo Records' Matt Mehlan, did bother, and they did a nice job of it too, adding a dash of Sea and Cake's breezily meandering haziness into the mix, and ending up with fun but spiky and artily cerebral pop.
