Koushik is hard to place. The label (Stones Throw) suggests hip-hop, the swirling, glittery sounds and chimes suggest an heir to Shuggie Otis' psychedelic R&B, the singing suggests shoegaze, and somehow the whole package suggests an exclusive, dimly lit club that serves overpriced drinks and chilled-out music in industrial yet cozy surroundings.Whatever it is, it's a marvelously fluid sound. The harp and drum outro is particularly brilliant.
