Daily Download: "Giving Up," Windsor for the Derby

A couple of tracks from Windsor for the Derby's desolate, beautiful new record, "Giving Up the Ghost": The creepily uninflected "Empathy for People Unknown" is a kind of dance music for the damned and hopeless, or perhaps just the brainwashed. "Giving Up" opens as a nice but unexceptional acoustic ballad, but then layers of subtle but increasingly disturbing sounds begin to accumulate around the song, as if the ghosts of the title are not going to be given up so easily.
