Daily Download: "When the Swifts Come Home," Tenement Halls

Tenement Halls is a new band by Chris Lopez, who was the front man of rowdy 50's rock plunderers and reverb fetishists Rock*A*Teens, and his record, "Knitting Needles & Bicycle Bells," is a shambling beauty, bursting at the seams with rambling, oblique poetry. There are plenty of scruffy but charming rockers like "Plenty Is Never Enough," but the highlight is broken cabaret number "When the Swifts Come Home," a majestic, rickety waltz that seems about to come splendidly undone at any moment.
