On his latest, "Fires in Distant Buildings," Gravenhurst's Nick Talbot brings the latent Brit Pop influences that were buried in his fragile folk music to the surface. That stylistic shift aside, this is the same isolated, spooky music he's always made, and "Animals," which opens with the line "They descend upon the city like flies/ Spraying their eggs into a dead dog's eyes," is one of his creepiest.
