A collision of Nick Cave-lite carnival organ creepiness and doomful vocal bombast (albeit female) with TV on the Radio-style aggressive and artsily jagged arrangements — courtesy of that band’s David Sitek, who produced this self-titled debut — this song doesn’t quite gel into anything really powerful or entirely convincing, but I’ll buy it for the unhinged, headlong drumbeat, fearsome and genuinely unsettling.
