Daily Download: "Lesser Laws," Patrick Phelan

"Lesser Laws" is exemplary soundtrack rock, unintrusive and sonically ingratiating, but resonant with nostalgia and a sense of longing that permeates the glossy and rather impersonal production. Also available for free download from Phelan's latest, "Cost," is "Favor," where his self-proclaimed debt to the Smiths is noticeable, as is a kinship with the polished and intricate music of the Sea and Cake.
