The members of the short-lived new-wave band Delta 5 were school friends with fellow Leeds bands the Gang of Four and the Mekons, and shared a practice space with them. They were never as famous (or as good) as their chums, but with their two-bass, mixed-gender lineup they were an odd and intriguing band, and Kill Rock Stars' new compilation of rarities, "Singles & Sessions 1979-81," is a welcome addition to their brief discography. "Now That You're Gone" is a typically skewed dance track, with a comically detached, icy vocal.
