Parisian singer Camille is best known here for her work on last year's Nouvelle Vague record (which I posted about here and here), but back home she's a star in her own right, having picked up two French Grammys for her most recent release, "Le Fil." The reliance on a cappella arrangements has earned her a slew of comparisons to Björk, but Camille is a far simpler and less unusual artist, and at most "Le Fil" is like an easy-listening version of Björk's "Medulla," devoid of both the frustration and the inspiration. It's still a pleasant listen, though, and while this song's sputter-filled beat is kind of gratingly cute, her voice is as lovely as ever and she layers it expertly.
