As with the last Ticonderoga song I posted about here, I find the opening of “Town” pretty unremarkable, but about 30 seconds in things get interesting very rapidly, as a complex piano bass line, some drums and a high, noodly synth sound join in, build the song up, dissolve into a pump organ drone and then build it right back up again. The instrumentation and arrangement decisions are counterintuitive and quite unusual, but they work beautifully.
