Cheney on the Middle East: Proof that we've got to "stay the course" and keep Republicans in charge.

We see all sorts of things when we watch the crisis unfold in the Middle East.

Dick Cheney? He sees one thing: Proof that the Bush administration's strategy is going exactly as planned. As the AP reports, the vice president was in Florida Friday to stump for a Republican congressional candidate. Along the way, Cheney pointed to the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah in the Middle East as a reason for keeping Republicans in control back in Washington.

"This conflict is a long way from over," Cheney said. "It's going to be a battle that will last for a very long time. It is absolutely essential that we stay the course."
