With 93 percent of the precincts reporting, Republican Sen. George Allen leads Democratic challenger Jim Webb by just under one percentage point in Virginia. Allen's lead has grown smaller in the last few minutes. But if he holds on to beat Webb, the Democrats' hopes for taking the Senate will ride on Missouri and Montana, where they seem to have decent shots at winning, and Tennessee, where a victory at this point would be something close to a miracle.

With more than 90 percent of the precincts counted, the Republican leads by less than one percentage point.
