The title is a few weeks out of date, but my favorite track from burgeoning hipster fave Sally Shapiro’s hot and getting hotter “Disco Romance” album sure feels like a delightful little gift. Minimal techno-pop made by superhip Scandinavians rarely sounds sweet, but the way Shapiro sings — as if she’s just mustered up the courage to finally ask a secret crush out on a date — makes it hard not to fall for her music. Shapiro is Swedish and adorable, and makes music you can dance to? No wonder the tastemakers are falling for her.
