Last Quote of the Day (Promise!)

Scooter Libby's defense attorney explains why Libby would not have perjured himself.

Yes, we know, we've already identified two separate quotes as our "Quote of the Day," but we just couldn't resist another one.

"Mr. Libby was a very busy man, but he wasn't stupid; nobody's going to tell you he was a nut."

That's from Ted Wells, Scooter Libby's defense attorney; it's his attempt to explain why his client would not perjure himself by making up a lie he thought he might be caught in. It brought more than a couple of laughs from the media room, where reporters and bloggers are watching a closed-circuit broadcast of the trial.
