If you can figure out what this song's title has to do with the music, then you've got me beat. But as with all good progressive rock, the words aren't what make "Am I Wry? No" -- from Mew's new release, "Frengers" -- worth listening to. The Danish group's use of soaring vocals and spiraling guitars hearkens back to the heady days of the early '70s, when cosmic lyrics, epic songs and instrumental prowess were what we expected of our rock stars. The band's last album, "And the Glass-Handed Kites," earned some high praise from influential places, which makes perfect sense; Mew fits very nicely into the current prog-friendly musical landscape, where lyrics are hard to decipher, guitars go on forever and songs move in all sorts of strange and mysterious ways.
