Once you've gotten a good, hearty laugh out of the State of the Union Address (9 p.m. EST on various networks), you'll be ready for a little emotional heavy lifting, and HBO's "In Treatment" (9:30 p.m. EST weeknights) certainly delivers on that mark. Starring Gabriel Byrne as therapist Paul Weston, the drama series runs for a half hour, every night of the week, with a different patient coming for therapy each night. Although that probably sounds tedious, after the melodrama of the first episode, you'll be amazed at how engrossing and addictive this series becomes. But just like therapy, it takes a commitment!

In "Michael Palin's New Europe" (8 p.m. EST on Travel), the former Monty Python star takes us on a tour of Eastern Europe, leaving the Greek Isles for that grumpy gourmet on "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations" (10 p.m. EST on Travel). True globetrotters won't want to miss the "Harlem Globetrotters Special" (8 p.m. EST on MNT). Meanwhile, A&E's "Intervention" tackles crystal meth addiction (9 p.m. EST).
