Rep. Rick Renzi, R-Ariz., has been indicted on federal charges. According to the Associated Press, the allegations against him include, among others, extortion, wire fraud and money laundering.

These charges are the result of an investigation that has gone on since at least the fall of 2006. In April 2007, the FBI raided a Renzi family business, and Renzi said that he would take a leave of absence from the House Intelligence Committee. In August2007, Renzi -- who was first elected to the House in 2002 -- announced his decision not to seek reelection.
