The Independent Lens series continues with "Iron Ladies of Liberia" (10 p.m. EDT on PBS), a fascinating documentary that focuses on Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the president of Liberia. Africa's first elected female president, Sirleaf faces enormous challenges in piecing her country back together after 14 years of civil war. The filmmakers had access to many of Sirleaf's activities in the first year of her presidency, and the results are an intriguing look at the inner workings of a country besieged by huge debts, crumbling infrastructure and an economy crippled by years of conflict.
