Barack Obama's campaign has released an ad responding to "Celeb," the anti-Obama ad John McCain's campaign put out Wednesday.
This latest ad takes a tack similar to the one Obama's campaign employed successfully against negative campaigning by Hillary Clinton in the primaries. Grabbing the high ground, the spot, titled "The Low Road," accuses McCain of "practicing the politics of the past" and recites some of the fact-checks that have shown some of McCain's attacks against Obama to be without factual merit. The question is whether this strategy will be as effective in the general election as it was in the primaries, considering the difference in the electorate. There is one notable benefit to using the strategy during the general -- it allows the Obama campaign to neatly tie McCain to President Bush.
