According to an excerpt in Patrick Taylor's new book, former Bush CIA director George Tenet, allegedly with a belly full of scotch (and maybe a sleeping pill), was thrashing about in the pool at Saudi Prince Bandar's Riyadh home. And we're not talking here about Tenet doing a poor imitation of Michael Phelps' butterfly technique:
"They're setting me up. The bastards are setting me up," Tenet said, but "I am not going to take the hit."
This quote, apparently referring to the administration generally, reflects Tenet's (correct) sense that Bush-Cheney and crowd were planning to make him the intelligence fall guy. Tenet went on to further blame the administration's connection to the neoconservatives, "referring to them with exasperation as, 'the Jews'."
More here from the Atlantic's Jeffrey Goldberg.
Sidebar: I thought drinking liquor was outlawed in Saudi Arabia. Oh, that naughty Prince Bandar.
