The Associated Press is reporting that another day of frantic negotiations among senators has finally been successful, and that there's a deal in place that gets Senate Democrats the couple of Republican votes they need to overcome a GOP filibuster and pass the stimulus package.
While we do know what level of cuts the moderates negotiating an accord had been looking to make, we don't yet have much in the way of detail as to what this new deal entails, if indeed it exists. Of course, the version of the bill that passes the Senate isn't the final one; the differences between it and the package passed by the House will need to be hammered out in conference, and that could mean substantial changes down the road.
