The Chicago Tribune is reporting that U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald's office is indicting former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich today. The indictment is expected to be released this afternoon.
When Fitzgerald first announced the charges against Blagojevich, he had only a criminal complaint, which is not enough to bring a defendant to trial. He then asked for, and received, an extension of the time normally allowed before an indictment must be filed.
Blagojevich won't be around for the news -- he's down in Florida, apparently visiting Disney World.
